The Self Defense technique and safety tip by Rapid Fire Self Defence and Fitness

THE SAFETY TIP OF THE WEEK

Be very aware of isolated spots like underground parking garages especially at night or after business hours when very few people are around. If possible always have someone walk you to your car for examples ask a co-worker, security guard or a friend, most people would completely understand and be more than happy to oblige you. If you think you are being a burden change your way of thinking and put yourself in their shoes, would you help someone else out? This is your personal safety we are talking about and more than likely you would do the same for someone else if it would help insure their safety. It is always best to be safe than sorry. Rapid Fire Self Defense and Fitness is a women’s program that teaches self-defense and strategies.

THE FRONT KICK

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jglrl11V7ik

The front kick is one of the most easy to learn self defense techniques you can use and when executed correctly can be a very effective and devastating strike. The front kick along with the palm strike can be a very useful combination when used in the Rapid Fire striking sequence of high, low, middle and clear. This combination can be used in a number of different attack situations and therefore it is a must learn when developing your overall self defence system. The Rapid Fire Self Defense and Fitness program teaches very simple and basic combinations that anyone can learn.

How to do a proper front kick:

1)     Lift the knee up into a chambered position

2)     Thrust your foot into the target area

3)     Hit with the point of your shoe, sole or heel

Target areas

1)     The groin

2)     Thigh

3)     Knee

4)     Shin

It is important to realize that the front kick when executed properly can be a very powerful technique. You do not have to pin point this strike exactly but rather just make contact and use it to distract your attacker.  Always remember your goals in an attack situation and that is to create a window of opportunity for escape and get to safety.

Good luck and be Safe,

Joel Wasel
